Getting started as a 1:1 Coaching coach

  • Updated

Hone 1:1 Coaching connects learners with coaches who are a strong fit for their goals, challenges, and development needs. As a coach, your profile, calendar availability, and coaching capacity help Hone match you with the right learners and make it easy for them to schedule time with you.

Before you can begin working with 1:1 Coaching learners, you’ll work with Hone to complete your coach profile and set up your scheduling preferences.

Set up your 1:1 Coaching profile

Your coach profile helps learners understand who you are and what it would be like to work with you. Hone also uses information from your profile alongside learner intake responses to identify coaches who may be a strong match for a learner’s goals and desired outcomes.

Work with Hone to make sure your profile accurately represents your coaching background, experience, areas of expertise, and coaching approach.

Once your profile is ready, Hone will add you to the 1:1 Coaching coach group, making you eligible to be matched with 1:1 Coaching learners.

Connect your calendars

Next, connect the calendar accounts you use to manage your schedule. Hone supports connecting calendars from providers such as Google, Microsoft, and Apple.

Choose the calendars that should be considered when Hone determines when you’re available for coaching. For example, you may want to include both your primary work calendar and another calendar containing commitments that should prevent learners from booking that time.

Hone uses your selected calendars to account for existing events when showing availability to learners. Keeping these calendars connected and up to date helps prevent scheduling conflicts.

Set your coaching availability

After connecting your calendars, define the hours when you’re generally available for 1:1 Coaching.

You can configure your availability across Monday through Sunday based on the days and times you want to coach. Hone combines these availability preferences with your connected calendars to determine which times learners can book.

Set availability that reflects the time you can consistently dedicate to coaching rather than your entire open calendar. This helps create a predictable schedule for both you and your learners.

Set your 1:1 Coaching capacity

Set your 1:1 Coaching limit based on the number of learners you can actively support while delivering a high-quality coaching experience.

Your capacity helps Hone understand how many coaching relationships you can take on at a time and helps prevent you from being matched with more learners than you can effectively support.

Consider the time required not only for coaching sessions themselves, but also for preparation, reflection, and maintaining continuity across your coaching relationships.

What happens after setup?

Once your profile, calendars, availability, and coaching capacity are configured, you’re ready to participate in 1:1 Coaching.

When a learner begins their coaching journey, they complete an intake describing their role, goals, challenges, and desired outcomes. Hone uses that information to identify coaches who may be a strong fit.

Learners can review recommended coach profiles before selecting their coach. Once a learner selects you, they can see your available times and book a session directly in Hone.

You’ll continue working with that learner throughout their coaching journey, giving you the opportunity to build context and help them make progress toward their goals over multiple sessions.

Keep your availability up to date

Review your connected calendars, coaching availability, and capacity whenever your schedule or coaching commitments change.

Accurate availability makes it easier for learners to find time with you and helps ensure you have the capacity to provide each learner with a consistent, high-quality coaching experience.
